A fake children's book in the guise of an illustrated dictionary, with large colorful illustrations, oversize typefaces and simple definitions, featuring a wandering gremlin as comic relief.
An A-B-C of kustom kulture, lowbrow, and hot-rod cultural terms, presented in a friendly child-like book, The Dizzy Dictionary is twist on a well-known format -- the illustrated dictionary -- updated and downgraded for today's modern world: T is for Tiki; J is for Jet Car; N is for Nitrous Oxide; B is for Biker; I is for Iron Cross; V is for Voodoo; Z is for Zombie.
With bold, punchy illustrations, the graphics seem to have one foot in the '60s and the other in the present day. The Pizz's illustrations appeal to a wide range of fans, from rockabilly hot-rodders to Japanese urban vinyl collectors, and all the underground art aficionados in between. Hardcover, color.
The Pizz, an early protege of Ed "Big Daddy" Roth, has had seven solo shows at La Luz de Jesus in LA, as well as shows at a long list of galleries and museums. He has also worked in TV and film. His collectors include Jesse James (Monster Garage), Pink, Penelope Spheeris, and Anthony Kiedis (Red Hot Chili Peppers).
Jesse James is CEO of West Coast Choppers, host of Motorcycle Mania and Monster Garage. Other branches of the "West Coast Family" include the Chopperdogs fan club and Jesse's Girl clothing line.
