    Krampus

In the early Christmas traditions of Europe, the Krampus was St. Nikolaus’ dark servant —a hairy, horned, supernatural beast whose pointed ears and long, slithering tongue gave misbehavers the creeps!

Whereas St. Nicholas would reward children who’d been good all year with small gifts and treats, those that had behaved badly were paid a visit by the Krampus!

All images are culled from vintage, pre-WWI Krampus postcards found in Monte Beauchamp’s Krampus books and products, which started the Krampus craze that is sweeping America.

    "...an arresting terror!"
