A hurricane warning forces Stella and her manager-husband to take shelter in an off season, out of the way Florida motel. As the hurricane approaches, an equally powerful emotional storm rises in the isolated motel. Time passes, the air thickens, and conflicts erupt. The five temporary inmates are gripped by a claustrophobic fever of desire, fear and hatred. Sparked by lust, this sexual battleground pits sisterhood against machismo —seduction becomes violation and violence turns to murder. An atmosphere reminiscent of classic film noir (Key Largo comes to mind) by an Italian whose work reminds me of Charles Burns.
Robert Baldazzini is an Italian comic book writer and artist renowned for his graphic line work. He first came to prominence in 1984 with the publication of Stella Norris. From 1995 he began focusing on erotic comics with such works as Trans Est, Casa HowHard and Chiara Rosenberg. He subsequently became known for his characteristically visceral but elegant, black and white style. And today, as his reputation grows, he is just as likely to be working on a gallery show as his next comic strip.
Lorena Canossa was born in Modena, Italy, in 1962. A theatrical machinist with a European diploma, he met Roberto Baldazzini on stage and became involved in the comic world with the writing of Stella Noris. In 1991 Canossa also wrote 31.12.1999 for Nova Express. He then moved away from comics to cultivate other interests.
