The long-time Art Director at Kitchen Sink Press, book designer, writer, painter, fencer, comics/fine art historian and bon vivant Peter Poplaski is one of the most talented and yet least known artists around. Poplaski created the ten glorious wraparound covers for The Superman Dailies, Superman Sundays, Batman Dailies and Batman Sundays co-published by KSP and DC Comics, covers and stories for Corporate Crime Comics, Comix Book, Snarf and Alan Moore's Tom Strong. But it is Poplaski's ghosted covers for such diverse titles as Li'l Abner, Gen of Hiroshima, Nard n' Pat, Flash Gordon, The Aviation Art of Russell Keaton, Fearless Fosdick, Spirit Jam and others that demonstrate Poplaski's stunning mimickry. Even Milton Caniff himself could not identify the lost Steve Canyon Sunday that Poplaski ghosted for one of KSP's Canyon volumes. This sketchbook represents a tiny fraction of the sketches Poplaski creates daily. But don't take our word: the Introduction is by long-time Poplaski admirer, Robert Crumb.
